Infection
Life-threatening infection is one of the main reasons for ICU admission and one of the major complications in critically ill patients. The critical care team addresses infections and antimicrobials daily in the ICU so it is crucial for them to be familiar with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and antibiotic breakpoints, including knowledge of the revised antibiotic breakpoints and how they should be interpreted and applying MIC and antibiotic breakpoint principles to clinical practice.
