Refractory shock impacts a variety of ICU patient populations, requiring significant resource use and compromising patient outcomes. This session will explore the challenges and controversies associated with defining and managing refractory shock, including the limitations of characterizing refractory shock, novel biomarkers used in diagnosis, and mechanical and pharmacologic therapies.
