This presentation will set the stage for the session by describing the scope of the changing characteristics of pediatric ICU patients in the United States, how medical complexity, illness severity, and outcomes have changed over time, and how the facilities in which children receive ICU care and the distance from patients’ homes to those facilities has changed.
