Dr. Robert C. Hyzy, MCCM is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He is Medical Director of the Critical Care Medicine Unit at the University of Michigan Hospital. Dr. Hyzy’s research interests are in the area of critical care medicine, including ICU quality improvement, ARDS, and ventilator associated pneumonia. He is the Program Director and Co-Principal Investigator of the Great Lakes Clinical Center forf the NHLBI ARDS, Pneumonia and Sepsis (APS) Consortium. Previoulsy he was Program Director for the Michigan Clinical Center of the Prevention and Early Treatment of Acute Lung Injury (PETAL) Network. He is the author of over 150 peer review articles, contributes 18 topics on mechanical ventilation to the online site UpToDate. Dr. Hyzy is Co-Editor of the Critical Care textbook, “Evidence-Based Critical Care: A Case Study Approach,” whose second edition was published in 2020 by Springer. He has lectured nationally and internationally. Dr. Hyzy is member of the SCCM Internal Medicine Steering Committee, has served on the Congress Program Committee and is a former member and Chair of the ACCM Credentials Committee and Quality Improvement Committees.
