He is the President of New York Downstate Association for Respiratory Therapists (NYDART).

Mr. Khusid graduated from the Respiratory Therapy Program at Long Island University in 1988. His research and expertise include the Application of Advanced Ventilatory Modalities, High Frequency Percussive Ventilation, Ventilator Monitoring and Ventilator Graphics Analysis. He frequently lectures nationally and internationally on the topic of Mechanical Ventilation and has served as a Co-Director/Faculty for Mechanical Ventilation Workshops conducted by the American College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians. Mr. Khusid was previously selected to be a reviewer and moderator for the SCCM, ACCP and AARC. Mr. Khusid received an appointment to be a member of the Scientific Program Committee (CHEST 2013) and a General Session Chair at CHEST 2013 and 2019. Mr. Khusid has presented numerous abstracts at the AARC Open Forum, ATS, CHEST and SCCM. Mr. Khusid is the past Chair (2017 – 2019) for the Respiratory Care Section of the Society for Critical Care Medicine. The American Association for Respiratory Care selected Mr. Khusid as an Acute Care Practitioner of the year 2020. He received the Presidential Citation by the Society for Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) in 2024.
