Sarah Bain, MD is a cardiac anesthesiologist and intensivist at Virginia Mason Franciscan Hospital in Seattle, WA. She has held the roles of Division head for Cardiac, Structural Heart, and Thoracic Anesthesia and the Associate Program Director for the Anesthesia Residency Program in past years. She is now the Hospital Director of Point of Care Ultrasound for Virginia Mason Medical Center. After graduating from the George Washington School Medicine in Washington DC, she ventured out to the west coast to Stanford University for Anesthesia residency, Critical Care Medicine, and Cardiac Anesthesia fellowships. She was a staff physician in cardiac anesthesia and critical care medicine at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View CA before heading to the PNW to join the team at VMFH. She has been an active member of SCCM since fellowship, having the honor of chairing the Ultrasound Committee and Course and considers the Ultrasound staff and faculty to be family.
Aside from the hospital, she is perpetually busy running after two active boys, long distance running, skiing, painting, and planning her next party!
