Christine S. Cocanour, MD, FACS, FCCM is a Distinguished Professor of Clinical Surgery and the Interim Associate Vice-Chancellor of Academic Personnel at the University of California Davis Schools of Health. She received her MD from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, followed by a general surgery residency at CWRU and a trauma/critical care fellowship at UTHSC-Houston. She rose to the rank of professor at UTHSC-Houston and then joined UC Davis in 2006. She has been a surgical critical program director from 1995 to 2024. Dr. Cocanour’s career has included being President of the Western Trauma Association, President of the Northern California Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and Central Committee Membership on the American College of Surgeon’s Committee on Trauma where she chaired the Performance Improvement Patient Safety Committee.
