Vijai Bhola MD. Assistant Professor of Critical Care at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia.
Dr Bhola completed medical school at the University of the West Indies, in his home country of Trinidad, before coming to the US, where he underwent training in Infectious Diseases at the University of Massachusetts, Disaster Medicine at BIDMC Boston, and Critical Care at Montefiore/ Einstein Medical Center in the Bronx, NY.
He has worked in many countries in South America and Africa in a research and educational context. In the field of Disaster Medicine he has responded to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and to the Ukraine conflict.
When not in the hospital or in the field, he also serves as a board member on the Greater Boston chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility, where the work emphasizes the need for action on Nuclear Weapons and Climate Change, twin existential threats to humanity.
This role emphasizes a belief that Physicians can and should have impact via advocacy on the greater public health.
