Charlene Compher, PhD, RD, LDN is Professor of Nutrition Science at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She coauthored the 2016 and 2021 ASPEN Clinical Guidelines for the Care of the Critically Ill Adult, and was Co-investigator for the EFFORT Protein trial comparing higher versus usual protein intake on time to discharge alive in critically ill adults. A global leader in the diagnosis of malnutrition in adults, she led a consensus process to develop guidance about the timing of assessment of malnutrition. Dr. Compher has served as President of the ASPEN and she currently is President of the ASPEN Rhoads Research Foundation.
