Dr. Brandy McKelvy is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the McGovern Medical School at UT Health. She been a faculty member since 2005. She did her undergraduate training at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA where she graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Biomedical Engineering with a Minor in Mathematics. She marticulated from the University of Texas-Houston Medical School in 1999. She complted an internship and residency training in Internal Medicine and follow by fellowship in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine also at UT Health finising in 2005. Current leadership activities include: Internal Medicine Core Faculty, member of the curriculum committee at UT Health, Physician leader for the Rapid Response team and the Code Committee at Memorial Herman Hospital-TMC and Chair of the Ethics Committee at MHH-TMC. Nationally, she is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) and a current member of the, SCCM, ACCP and ATS. Locally, she is member of the Texas Chapter of Society of Critical Care Medicine and served as a board member in 2011 and in 2017-2019 and most recently, finishing a 3- year cycle of service as president of the SCCM Texas Chapter. Accolades include being named “Physician of the Year” at Memorial Herman Hospital-TMC in 2012, and 15 consecutive years on the “Dean’s Teaching Excellence” list at UTH. Current interests include Multidisciplinary Critical Care, Medical Education, Pulmonary Hypertension, Mechanical Ventilation and Medical Ethics.
