Ivan Saraiva, MD MS, is a T32 postdoctoral scholar with the Department of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr Saraiva completed medical school at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil. He then completed Internal Medicine residency at the New York University, followed by a Master of Science degree back in his medical school in Brazil. Later he joined the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for his Critical Care Medicine fellowship. Since 2023 he is a postdoctoral research fellow with the NIH T32 grant. His main research interests involve the relationship of nutrition and criticall illness, with particular emphasis on fatty acid metabolism in organ injury.
