Dr. Paula Magee, MD, MPH, FAAP is a pediatric critical care attending at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She completed the Commonwealth Fund Mongan Fellowship in Minority Health Policy. During this time, she obtained her Master of Public Health in Health Policy at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Throughout her medical career, she has used her health policy background to improve knowledge of the impact of social factors on pediatric critical illness through research and scholarly activities.
Her research focuses on examining the impact of neighborhood built and social environments on pediatric critical care outcomes. In addition, Dr. Magee has focused her attention on increasing diversity in the medical workforce; creating curricula on health equity and racism and health for PICU trainees, faculty, and providers; and creating a framework for health equity in the pediatric critical care unit that improves outcomes for pediatric patients and creates a culture of safety for underrepresented in medicine providers.
Dr. Magee completed her pediatric critical care fellowship at Ann & Robert H Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and her pediatric residency training at Children’s National Hospital of Washington, DC. She received her medical degree from the Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA and her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Winston-Salem State University.
