Marko Nemet, MD, is a critical care research fellow at Mayo Clinic, where he leads and organizes the CERTAIN program, a global quality improvement and educational initiative focused on evidence-based medicine in the ICU. Through CERTAIN, he collaborates with hospitals across diverse healthcare settings, including resource-limited regions such as Croatia, China, Vietnam, and Ukraine, as well as developed systems in Japan. His work involves guiding quality improvement projects and coordinating educational sessions.
Originally from Serbia, Marko’s journey in medicine began with training in his home country, where he developed an understanding of healthcare challenges in low-resource environments. His dedication to critical care brought him to the United States, where he pursued subinternships at Cleveland Clinic and the University of Alabama at Birmingham before joining CERTAIN research team at Mayo Clinic. His current research focuses on ICU infections and patient safety.
