Dr. Saranga Agarwal MBBS, DCH, MD is a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) attending physician at Joseph M Sanzari Children’s Hospital, Hackensack, NJ since 2018 with extensive experience in Pediatric care. She earned her medical degree with honors in India and completed the Membership of Royal College Pediatric and Child Health (MRCPCH) in England. Dr. Agarwal completed her pediatric training in the United States, culminating in a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine from University of Miami.
Dr. Agarwal is a skilled clinician with expertise in managing complex cases of sepsis, respiratory failure, traumatic brain injuries, and post-surgical care. She is proficient in advanced life support techniques, mechanical ventilation, oxygen delivery devices and sedation. Dr. Agarwal is also a strong advocate for quality improvement (QI) initiatives within the PICU with special interest in ICU liberation bundle and is spearheading several QI projects aimed at safety and reducing length of stay and ventilator days by initiating sedation protocol ,extubation readiness check list and nurse driven Delirium management and Early Mobility of critically ill children. She has also published articles in peer-reviewed journals on topics such as COVID-19 Infection Associated with Encephalitis; Severe hypertriglyceridemia: A rare complication of diabetic ketoacidosis in a 3-year-old with SARS-CoV-2 infection; Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 Clinical Syndromes and Predictors of Disease Severity in children.
In addition Dr. Agarwal is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Hackensack Meridian School Of Medicine. She is actively involved in teaching and mentoring future generations of pediatricians and critical care specialists and frequently collaborates with Pediatric residents in various research, QI projects and scholarly activities.
In her free time Dr. Agarwal enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, reading and participating in book club.She firmly believes in importance of work-family life balance to improve overall wellness in life.
