Barrow Neurological Institute
Diane C. McLaughlin, DNP, AGACNP-BC, CCRN, FCCM, FNCS, is a neurocritical care nurse practitioner at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ. She has worked in critical care for over 20 years. She has taught in the ACNP program at Case Western Reserve University, acted as a clinical preceptor for University of Florida and Ohio State University master of science in nursing students, and is currently an assistant professor of neurology at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.
She has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles, authored multiple chapters in textbooks and nurse practitioner board review books, and has authored 3 Fast Facts books: 1 about neurocritical care, 1 about stroke, and 1 about cardiac surgery nursing.
Dr. McLaughlin is active in national organizations and has served on SCCM’s APP Resource Committee, the nursing section's APN Professional Developement Committee, the Ultrasound Committee, the Annual Congress Planning Committee, ACCM Awards Committee, and the Strategic Planning Committee. She has been faculty for the SCCM and NCS Ultrasound courses and has been an international speaker at both societies annual meetings. She is active in the Neurocritical Care Society, having served on both the Guidelines Committee and APP Leadership and is an active Social Media Ambassador and Social Media Editor for the Neurocritical Care Journal.
