Anthony Amaru, B.S., is a Medical Student at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He attended the United States Military Academy - West Point and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Life Science as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army in May 2027. After completing his medical education, Anthony will re-enter the US Army and serve as a military physician, where he is specifically interested in a career in Emergency Medicine. Outside of his medical school curriculum, Anthony volunteers within the greater Washington DC community, specifically with Spanish-speaking populations, providing interpretation services, flu shots, and blood pressure checks as he works to maintain and improve his medical Spanish knowledge. Additionally, Anthony is president of the Military Medicine Interest Group at Georgetown University School of Medicine, providing him with the unique opportunity to spread awareness of military medicine and support his peers as they work towards their medical degrees. Anthony's abstract titled "Emergency Physician and Nurse Perceptions of Paralytic Duration of Action" was accomplished by a team of peers organized by his advisors Katarina AuBuchon, PhD and Dr. Munish Goyal, MD, where he compared physician and nurse perceptions of paralytic durations of action to better inform patient post-intubation care and improve medical professional understanding of paralytic agents.
