Dr. Timothy Ellender is an associate professor of clinical emergency medicine and critical care at Indiana University/Indiana University Health.
Tim completed his medical training at LSUHSC in New Orleans in 2003 and his residency training in emergency medicine at IU in 2006. He stayed in Indy to start and complete a two year fellowship in crtical care medicine. He has recieved awards for resident teaching, IUEM Residency Impact awards for his work with the critical care educational program and with resident research, and several Outstanding Teaching Faculty of the year awards from the Transitional Residency Program.
Tim completed his EM board certification in 2008, his UCNS neurocritical care certification in 2010, and Internal Medicine Critical Care certification in 2016. He currently splits time between the emergency department (ED) and the Trauma-Surgical ICU, and has taken a position as co-director of the Critical Care Fellowship Track. His academic interests include septic shock research (ProCESS, CLOVERS), critical care educational development, and the study of the ED-ICU transition/interface. He serves on both the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) Emergency Medicine Commitees where he is active in furthering EM interests and professional development.
He became a fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (ACCM) in 2016 and has served on a number of SCCM committees including: the Fundamentals of Critical Care Support Course Committee, the EM Section Mentorship Strategic Planning Workgroup, the Critical Care for the Nonintensivist: Bridging the Gap Taskforce, the ACCM Nominating and Award Committees, and the SCCM Congress Program Committee.
