Emily W. Kemper, MD is a 3rd year Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellow at Johns Hopkins University. Her academic interests include communication in critical illness, pediatric health equity, and quality improvement. Her current research focuses on using qualitative methods to understand families' experiences with communication in the Pediatric ICU, with a particular focus on underrepresented groups, in order to improve communication for all families.
Dr. Kemper received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Chicago. She then spent 3 years as a fourth grade teacher in rural New Mexico, in the four corners region near the Navajo Nation, before returning to Boston for medical school at Boston University. Dr. Kemper completed her Pediatric residency and Chief residency at the University of Washington and Seattle Children's Hospital. She is currently completing fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
