Gitouf Elnema is a second-year critical care medicine fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania (UPMC). She completed her medical school at the University of Khartoum, Sudan, and then completed her Internal Medicine residency at Wellstart Atlanta Medical Center followed by a year as chief resident. She then had an experience as an assistant professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) with experience in teaching and medical education. Her areas of interest and career goals are medical education, global health, Point-Of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). As a first-year fellow, she has won the Fink Day Best Abstract Award in the education and QI category at the Department of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She was elected as a GME representative by her peers and was selected as the DEI champion for her multidisciplinary fellowship. She has also started a Medical Education Certificate program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr.Elnema is a mother to three daughters and she enjoys nature walks and photography.
