Brittany Weiss, PharmD Candidate (Class of 2025), is a fouth-year pharmacy student at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy. Her research focuses on neuropharmacology and critical care medicine. As the primary student researcher under Dr. Gretchen Brophy, PharmD, BCPS, FCCP, she evaluates neuroprotective properties of high-dose statins in traumatic brain injury through the analysis of a national TBI database. Her current research investigates biomarkers and clinical outcomes in TBI patients receiving high-dose atorvastatin, with additional projects examining angiotensin receptor blockers and other statin therapies in TBI. Her clinical experience spans multiple specialty areas including infectious disease, cardiology, and oncology through rotations at leading institutions such as MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, Inova Fairfax Hospital, and the VA Medical Center. She is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Aging Studies and maintains active membership in several professional organizations including the Society of Critical Care Medicine and American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
