Dr. Sydney Timmer-Murillo is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and the Associate Director of Research in the Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Marquette University and completed residency in Clinical Health Psychology and fellowship in Trauma and Health Psychology at MCW. As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Timmer-Murillo’s research focuses on the interplay of individual, biological, physiological, and socioecological factors influencing mental health outcomes after traumatic injury, with a particular emphasis on interpersonal mechanisms of trauma and firearm violence. She is also dedicated to advancing trauma care through integrated mental health services and the implementation of Trauma-Informed Care within trauma systems, promoting holistic and comprehensive patient care.
