With over 10 years of experience in critical care nursing and a strong background in education, simulation, and organizational development, I am dedicated to improving healthcare systems through effective change management. She is a certified Prosci Change Practitioner and a master trainer for High Reliability Organization (HRO) and National Center for Patient Safety initiatives, focusing on team-based and crew resource management within the Veteran Affairs Healthcare system.
As the Resuscitation Education and Innovation Program Director for the National TeleCritical Care (TCC) program, Howarth spearheaded the implementation of the TCC Champion Network, collaborating with more than 80 affiliated facilities to integrate simulation training into critical care leveraging telehealth technology to advance critical care best practices. My work includes developing standardized guidelines for emergency preparedness simulation training and education, enhancing frontline staff confidence and competence in emergency scenarios.
I emphasize learner-driven teaching models and safe clinical methods in our programs, which align with the HRO's commitment to "Zero Harm”. My goal is to contribute to fostering standardized critical care practices, collaborative teamwork, and improved patient safety across the system.
