Older adults are vulnerable to delirium while in the ICU. This session will address medication management of delirium in older adults in the ICU, including those with underlying cognitive dysfunction and/or dementia. Important pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic considerations for medication dosing in older adults in the ICU will be discussed. Speakers will examine the role of family and caregivers in preventing, detecting, and managing delirium in critically ill patients, focusing on evidence-based interventions to prevent delirium in this high-risk population using a multidisciplinary approach.
