Patients with acute kidney injury are subject to significant discrepancies in metabolism of drugs and steady state of intermittent or continuous infusion medications - this is true even without the use of continuous renal replacement therapy (RRT) for patients with AKI. In this session, we will take a pharmacological approach to optimizing the hourly, routine, and daily approach to medication management and adjudication in critical illness associated with AKI - paying particular attention to antibiotics, vasoactive medications, and sedation.
