Dr. Kauert has performed several interventional trials focused on ambient light, sound and room design to mitigate the impact of the ICU on the sleep of critically ill adults. She has shown improvements in rates of delirium and was the first author on recent guidelines dedicated to this very important emerging area of research. She will present to the learners how relatively inexpensive and informed adaptations to the delivery of ICU care can have remarkable impact on morbidity and potentially the rates and severity of PICS.
