Dr. Dionne has established herself as a leader in critical care gastroenterology research and was the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Diarrhea, Interventions, Consequences and Epidemiology in the Intensive Care Unit (DICE-ICU) Study; a multinational prospective cohort study of 1100 critical care patients examining risk factors, interventions, and outcomes of patients with diarrhea. She has had roles in the PROSPECT and REVISE trials as a member of the adjudication and writing committees as well as leaded sub-studies on diarrhea, C.Diff and the use of bowel protocols in the ICU and bleeding. She is also the PI of the INVENTS-ICU trial exploring the impact of continuous versus bolus feeding on GI outcomes. Dr. Dionne received peer reviewed funding from Physician Services Incorporated (PSI), HAHSO, the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology, and Canadian Association of Transplantation (CST). Dr. Dionne completed a PSI Research Trainee Fellowship. Dr. Dionne was awarded the T3 Grant (Montreal, Canada, 2024) from CST for a prospective cohort study examining the outcomes of patients with alcoholic liver disease and Alcohol Use Disorder who are transplanted after the abolition of the 6-month abstinence rule. This work builds off her work with Canadian Blood Services (CBS) guidelines.
Dr. Dionne has built a skillset as a guideline methodologist at the national and international level. She has been a methodologist for the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) Liver Management Guidelines, as well as chair of methodology for SCCM’s Stress Ulcer Prophylaxis Guidelines and for the CBS Guideline for Alcohol in Liver Disease Guideline which seeks to re-evaluate the use of the 6-month abstinence rule. For this work Dr. Dionne has received a Presidential Citation from SCCM. Dr. Dionne was co-chair of methodology for the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) guidelines on the Transfusion Guidelines (Part 1,2,3).
