I have over 30 years of experience as a staff nurse, clinical educator, endowed chair for nursing, and innovator of a national quality improvement program for the American Association of Critical-Care Nursing (AACN). In my current position as the associate director of research and quality at the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), my main role is to shepherd clinical practice guidelines from inception to publication with SCCM member panels to ensure the use of best practices in caring for critically ill and injured patients. I also am a key grant writer and implementer of innovative quality improvement projects. My entire career has focused on quality, quality improvement programs, and quality measures.
