Brian Jefferson, DNP is an acute care nurse practitioner with Hepatobiliary Surgery at Atrium Cabarrus Medical Center in Concord, North Carolina. He is currently an adjunct professor of Physician Assistant Studies through the Wake Forest School of Medicine. He is also the HPB Surgery site coordinator for the Surgical Specialties APP Fellowship program through the Atrium Health Center for Advanced Practice. He obtained his Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006 and his Doctor of Nursing Practice from Vanderbilt University in 2015. He practiced in both surgical and medical critical care from 2006 until 2019, at which time he transitioned to Hepatobiliary Surgery in 2019. He served as site coordinator for the University of North Carolina-Charlotte Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program, a collaborative program with Atrium Health, and served as the primary didactic and clinical faculty for the program, graduating the first two student cohorts. He is active in teaching both PA students and APP fellows on the HPB Service. He has been a member of SCCM since 2005 and served in several leadership positions in the Nursing Section. He was awarded Fellow of Critical Care Medicine in 2013.
